DVD FOR TEENS

AS SEEN ON DISCOVERY EDUCATION

Why is this driver program needed?
The simple answer is that current methods do not work. We are not producing safer teen drivers. If teen driving deaths were viewed as a disease, there is no end to the resources we would expend to solve the problem.

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration in looking at typical driver education programs used in the United States has noted that, “…despite the seemingly universal appeal of driver education, scientific evaluations have indicated that such programs generally do not produce safer drivers.”

How is this driver program different?
This program unlike the typical driver education school class focuses on the physical and mental skills of driving and teaches the types of experiences that drivers would otherwise gain over their first ten years of driving. Teens do not recognize these conditions but must be taught to identify them.

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration has noted that, “Younger drivers are not experienced in hazard recognition. They do not generally acknowledge dangerous situations on the road, and therefore do not react appropriately.”
